What He Said ...
F. Scott Fitzgerald said,
"There are no second acts in American lives."
I absolutely adore this quotation from one of the best writers this country has ever known. To me it says that you cannot pause while living your life. The curtain will not come down so that everyone can use the restroom or buy a box of nonpareils or step outside for a smoke while you freshen up your make-up or simply gather your resolve to carry on for the remainder of your life. Let's face it, life happens on the fly. It happens with us or without us. In other words, life can happen to you, with you or in spite of you. Full steam ahead. Push forward until you hit your stride and only look back when you think you've left something important behind that you want with you as you travel forward. Don't think of a career change or marriage or divorce as an intermission. A chapter, yes but not a pause in the action. Life is one long comic/tragedy that doesn't hold for applause and won't lower the curtain until it is your last day, your last hour, your last breathing moment in/on this stage of humanity.
