Melancholy

It's how I feel today.

What color is Melancholy?

What does it look like? This painting entitled "Melancholy" is from 1620 ... Whose skull do you suppose that is? His lover's? His mother's? his brother's? Melancholy?!!? Why isn't he depressed, even suicidal?

What texture is "Melancholy?" I think maybe plain brown wrapping paper, like the kind you use to wrap a package going to the Post Office.

What does "Melancholy" smell like? Lima beans.

What does "Melancholy" taste like? An oyster cracker. Just one, that was left out overnight.

What does "Melancholy" feel like? Dull and distant. It's as though your heart and spirit are wearing a heavy woolen coat but it's raining and the wool is absorbing the moisture, making the coat heavier and unnecessary.

Melancholy ... it isn't jolly.
