A Recipe for When Friends are Coming Over...

My dear friend, Harriet, made this dish on New Year's Eve when she'd invite a house full of people. She made the chicken and the rice and the guests would bring the other ingredients. Just put it all out on a table and let people top with whatever and in the order they'd like.

Snow on the Mountain

Make a big pot of creamed chicken (don't ask me how)

Make a big pot of steamed rice (you should know how)

Toppings

chopped tomatoes,

scallions or chopped white onions,

chow mein noodles

chopped celery

green olives

shredded Cheddar cheese

crushed or tidbits of pineapple

sliced almonds

diced green peppers

raisins

mandarin oranges

coconut (that's the snow!)
